This drawing was made in Yanaka Ginza on my second to last day in Tokyo.
I had just arrived back from Kurashiki and went out for an evening wander, eventually finding this small café and settling in for a while. I ordered a drip coffee, which was an experience in itself — slow, considered, and very different from what I’m used to.
I sat at the table and drew what was in front of me — the cups, the chairs, the quiet details of the space. The drawing is more tonal and focused, built up through observation rather than colour.
It felt like a gentle way to end the day — sitting, looking, and drawing in a place I hadn’t planned to find.
