Creative Coaching
I offer coaching to anyone who wants creative guidance. You might have a specific printmaking query, need guidance on a specific project or just need help on embarking on a regular artistic practice.

Creative coaching with Sam has given me a confidence in my practice I didn’t think was possible.
It’s hard to describe Sam’s role – part teacher, therapist, and friend, all rolled into one! Sam has created a space where I feel safe to share my creative goals, fears, and doubts - no matter how big or small, and then helps me to plot my path through. I’ve been blown away by how far-reaching Sam’s support has been in achieving my creative goals – it’s certainly gone way above and beyond what I expected from our regular sessions. Sam is generous in sharing her own experiences and strategies and isn’t afraid to challenge or push me when I’ve needed it.
Sam’s passion for her subject is contagious and I always leave our sessions feeling topped up and inspired.

My creative coaching sessions with Sam have been immensely valuable in my personal and creative journey.
Understanding my challenges and aspirations, Sam is able to supportively guide and direct my next steps. I always look forward to our sessions as I know I’ll be walking away with a greater awareness and confidence that Sam has instilled in me.

Sam’s ability to get me to the nub of something, explore the subject and produce new art is amazing.
Her approach is holistic, responsive to me as an individual setting goals in a way that is
accessible and challenging. Sam’s understanding of me and approach in helping me understand
what I can accomplish is authentic, clear, honest and kind. Sam’s commitment and passion is
conveyed in the way she invests herself in drawing out the best of me (and all her students).
I went to Sam asking for her help and guidance as a mixed media creative, not as a focused print
maker. I have found her ability to coach, mentor and broaden my understanding both
compassionate and professional. I would totally recommend Sam’s courses and mentoring to
you.Anne, Sheffield UK
During the Session
We will discuss your work and ways to move it forward. I will encourage you to take risks and move out of your comfort zone by setting you projects that are specific to you and your goals. At the end of each session I will suggest tasks to complete before we meet again, the result of which will be discussed in the following session.
A one off session may be all that is needed or you may want to arrange to have a series of sessions in order to have accountability and focus – many students find that having regular sessions ensures they have made a commitment to developing their own work and practice.
I have been teaching for over 18 years – I started teaching at the Royal Drawing School and gained my teaching qualification (PGCE) at the Institute for Education at the University of London in 2009.
I have worked with all and abilities, from after school clubs to MA level students. I taught at the BRIT school of performing arts for many years and was a core tutor at the Foundation course for the Royal Drawing School for 10 years until the course closed in 2021. I currently teach on the public programme at the Royal Drawing School and run my own online printmaking and drawing workshops from my studio.
