Creative Coaching
I offer one-to-one creative coaching for creatives who want clarity, direction and renewed momentum in their practice.
You might be developing a body of work, preparing for an exhibition, navigating a transition, or simply feeling stuck and unsure how to move forward. You may have practical questions about your work, or you may need space to think clearly and regain confidence.
Our sessions are focused, thoughtful and tailored to you. Together we’ll identify what’s holding you back, clarify your next steps and build a sustainable, committed creative practice.
If you’re considering coaching, please complete the short enquiry form below before booking your first session. This allows me to check that coaching is the right fit and that I have capacity at this time.
Testimonials

Creative coaching with Sam has given me a confidence in my practice I didn’t think was possible.
It’s hard to describe Sam’s role – part teacher, therapist, and friend, all rolled into one! Sam has created a space where I feel safe to share my creative goals, fears, and doubts - no matter how big or small, and then helps me to plot my path through. I’ve been blown away by how far-reaching Sam’s support has been in achieving my creative goals – it’s certainly gone way above and beyond what I expected from our regular sessions. Sam is generous in sharing her own experiences and strategies and isn’t afraid to challenge or push me when I’ve needed it.
Sam’s passion for her subject is contagious and I always leave our sessions feeling topped up and inspired.

My creative coaching sessions with Sam have been immensely valuable in my personal and creative journey.
Understanding my challenges and aspirations, Sam is able to supportively guide and direct my next steps. I always look forward to our sessions as I know I’ll be walking away with a greater awareness and confidence that Sam has instilled in me.

Sam’s ability to get me to the nub of something, explore the subject and produce new art is amazing.
Her approach is holistic, responsive to me as an individual setting goals in a way that is
accessible and challenging. Sam’s understanding of me and approach in helping me understand
what I can accomplish is authentic, clear, honest and kind. Sam’s commitment and passion is
conveyed in the way she invests herself in drawing out the best of me (and all her students).
I went to Sam asking for her help and guidance as a mixed media creative, not as a focused print
maker. I have found her ability to coach, mentor and broaden my understanding both
compassionate and professional. I would totally recommend Sam’s courses and mentoring to
you.Anne, Sheffield UK
During the Session
We will look closely at your work and your wider creative direction. I will ask thoughtful, sometimes challenging questions to help you move beyond hesitation and into action.
You’ll leave each session with clear next steps tailored to your goals. I also send written notes afterwards, so you have a record of what we discussed and agreed.
Some artists book a single session for clarity around a specific project. Others choose to meet regularly for accountability and sustained development. Both approaches work — it depends on where you are in your practice.
I have been teaching for over 30 years. I began my teaching career at the Royal Drawing School and gained my PGCE at the Institute of Education, University of London. I continue to teach at the Royal Drawing School alongside running my own workshops in the UK and internationally.
Over the years I’ve worked with students at every stage of their creative journey - from beginners finding their confidence to experienced artists developing ambitious bodies of work.
Alongside teaching, I am a practising artist specialising in drawing and printmaking, and the author of two books on the subject. My coaching is grounded in lived creative experience and decades of working closely with artists.
Above all, I aim to offer thoughtful, honest guidance in a way that feels approachable, supportive and clear.
