A drawing made early in the morning along the canal in Kurashiki, often referred to as the “Venice of Japan”. The autumn colours reflected softly in the water, and the whole place felt incredibly calm and still.
This is my favourite drawing from the trip — I love the gentleness and delicacy of it, and the muted tones that seemed to mirror the atmosphere of that morning. It holds a very happy memory of the quiet hour I spent drawing there.
