A drawing of Rinno-ji Temple in Nikkō, seen from the main thoroughfare as I approached the shrine complex. I was drawn to the view from the left-hand side, where the Sorintō pagoda rises alongside the temple buildings. It’s a strong, structured composition, with the vertical elements of the pagoda set against the broader forms of the temple.
