This large single-block linocut is inspired by the final drawing I made for my book Sketch - a layered, memory-rich image that brings together sketches from many places into one imagined landscape.
You’ll spot the fishing net huts from Hastings, the deer from Nara, a windmill from Cley in North Norfolk, and the washing line from my friend’s garden in rural Wales. Marple is there too, sitting peacefully in the garden - a quiet observer in a scene full of life.
This piece draws directly from my sketchbooks and appears as the final drawing (and front cover) of my new book Sketch. It celebrates the way drawing stitches together moments, places and memories — and how the ordinary becomes extraordinary when seen with care
It's a large print measuring 46 x 36 cm
Printed on Somerset satin paper
Edition of 80
Signed and numbered on front

INTRODUCING
Sam Marshall

My name is Sam, I'm a printmaker working from my studio in rural Northamptonshire. I've recently left London after 22 years and am now enjoying the fresh air, open skies and wildlife of my new life in the country. Miss Marple my ever faithful mini dachshund loves it too!
When I'm not making work/ running workshops / coaching from my studio then I'm travelling around the UK and Europe with my sketchbook.
