After visiting the Hiroshima Peace Memorial Museum, I needed time to sit and process the intense and moving experience. I found a quiet spot within the Peace Memorial Park and made this drawing of the Cenotaph for the A-Bomb Victims. The cenotaph is a saddle-shaped monument that covers a stone chest holding the names of all known victims of the atomic bomb. It is aligned to frame the Peace Flame and the A-Bomb Dome, symbolizing the connection between the past and the hope for a peaceful future.

The marks in this drawing are loose and layered, capturing the textures of the surrounding greenery and the tranquil atmosphere. This drawing holds the sense of calm and reflection I felt that afternoon.

Each print is the same size as the original sketchbook page. You can choose whether to include the sketchbook seam or not when ordering. Larger prints (25 x 21 cm) are £35, and smaller ones (23 x 12 cm or 17 x 14 cm) are £30. All prints are made on archival-quality Hahnemühle Fine Art paper.

This replica drawing from my sketchbook can be purchased with or without the seam of the sketchbook visible. Please select your preference.
