After a busy morning exploring Miyajima, I wanted to find a quieter spot. I walked up the hill and came across Daishō-in Temple. The path leading up was lined with hundreds of small stone statues, each wearing a colourful knitted hat. I later learned these are Rakan statues, representing the disciples of Buddha, and the hats are offerings from visitors .
I found a peaceful spot at the top of the temple grounds and made this drawing. The marks are loose and layered, capturing the textures of the stone statues and the surrounding greenery. It was a calm and reflective moment, and this drawing holds the sense of serenity I felt there.
