This series documents my 15 day trip to Japan in April 2019. I wrote and sketched everyday and when I got home I wanted a way to process my experiences so this is the result - a print for every day I was there. I feature in all these prints - I am the large eared fox like character with the stripy jumper!
This documents my second day in Naoshima when I bathed again in the "I♥︎湯" bathhouse - the magnificent sculpture of the lady adorns the entrance. I also enjoyed exploring all the art projects that are scattered around the town.
I print everything from my studio using a small wooden hand press and my etching press. The finished result is unique and original with no two prints being alike.

My name is Sam, I'm a printmaker working from my studio in rural Northamptonshire. I've recently left London after 22 years and am now enjoying the fresh air, open skies and wildlife of my new life in the country. Miss Marple my ever faithful mini dachshund loves it too!
