Over two summer days, we’ll spend time drawing directly from my garden and then turning those drawings into prints in the studio.
On the first day, we’ll begin outside, drawing plants, flowers and whatever catches your eye. I’ll guide you through ways of simplifying what you see and making strong, clear drawings that will translate well into print. After lunch, we’ll come into the studio and experiment with transfer monoprint, using your drawings as the starting point.
On the second day, you’ll choose one of your drawings or monoprints and develop it into a linocut. I’ll show you how to adapt your image, carve your block, and print a small edition using traditional tools and techniques.
If the weather isn’t kind to us, we’ll work from carefully arranged garden cuttings and botanical setups indoors — the focus remains the same.
You’ll leave with finished prints and a clearer understanding of how to move from drawing to printmaking.
Beginners are very welcome. With just four participants, there’s plenty of individual support.
All materials provided.
Tea, coffee and homemade cake included.

INTRODUCING
Sam Marshall
My name is Sam, I'm a printmaker working from my studio in rural Northamptonshire. I've recently left London after 22 years and am now enjoying the fresh air, open skies and wildlife of my new life in the country. Miss Marple my ever faithful mini dachshund loves it too!
When I'm not making work/ running workshops / coaching from my studio then I'm travelling around the UK and Europe with my sketchbook.
