Take your linocut practice further with this two-day workshop focused on planning and printing multi-block colour work.

Over the weekend, you’ll learn how to design, carve and register multiple blocks to create layered prints with clarity and depth. We’ll look at two different approaches to multi-block printing: using a key block with colour added through separate blocks, and building an image entirely through layered colour blocks.

I’ll guide you through the planning stage so you feel confident breaking an image down into workable layers. You’ll carve your blocks, learn accurate registration, and print using both my hand lever press and etching press. We’ll also experiment with different papers to see how they affect colour and finish.

This workshop is ideal for those with some previous linocut experience who want to develop more complex, considered prints.

With just four participants, there’s plenty of individual guidance throughout.

INTRODUCING

Sam Marshall

My name is Sam,  I'm a printmaker working from my studio in rural Northamptonshire. I've recently left London after 22 years and am now enjoying the fresh air, open skies and wildlife of my new life in the country. Miss Marple my ever faithful mini dachshund loves it too!

When I'm not making work/ running workshops / coaching from my studio then I'm travelling around the UK and Europe with my sketchbook.
