North Norfolk is a huge part of my childhood. My parents had a holiday home there, so we spent long stretches of each year exploring the coastline – Sheringham, Cley, Blakeney, Wells-next-the-Sea, all those places that feel stitched into my memory.
This print brings together the details I’ve always loved: the pine trees at Wells, the banded lighthouse at Happisburgh, the seals resting on the shore, Cromer crabs, boats on the marsh, piles of fish and chips, buckets, spades, and the big skies that make this coastline feel so open. If you look closely, you’ll even spot Marple and me having a picnic in the top right corner. The backdrop is inspired by the Stiffkey marshes, one of my favourite stretches of North Norfolk landscape.
This print is part of my travel series, which I create on warm cream Fabriano Unica paper and finish with gently rounded corners to give the work its own distinct look.
Each print is signed and individually hand-pulled.

INTRODUCING
Sam Marshall
My name is Sam, I'm a printmaker working from my studio in rural Northamptonshire. I've recently left London after 22 years and am now enjoying the fresh air, open skies and wildlife of my new life in the country. Miss Marple my ever faithful mini dachshund loves it too!
When I'm not making work/ running workshops / coaching from my studio then I'm travelling around the UK and Europe with my sketchbook.
