This etching began with a quiet moment at a campsite in Suffolk last year.

It was late, just after supper, and Marple and I went out for a short walk to stretch our legs. The moon was bright and low, and everything had that soft, hushed stillness that only seems to arrive at the end of the day. We came across this small birdhouse, slightly hidden, almost as if it had been placed there just to be discovered in that moment.

I went back the following day to draw it, wanting to hold onto that feeling. That drawing became a sketch, and from there, this etching.

It is a zinc plate etching measuring 6.5 x 10 cm. 
Each print is hand - pulled on my Gunning press and printed on Hahnemuhle 300g natural paper.
It is an edition of 100, signed and numbered in pencil on front

My name is Sam,  I'm a printmaker working from my studio in rural Northamptonshire. I've recently left London after 22 years and am now enjoying the fresh air, open skies and wildlife of my new life in the country. Miss Marple my ever faithful mini dachshund loves it too! 

When I'm not making work/ running workshops / coaching from my studio then I'm travelling around the UK and Europe with my sketchbook.
