These tall, black wooden sheds, standing up to three stories high have always fascinate me when I visit Hastings. They have been standing side by side , on the shingle in front of Hastings Old Town for many centries. They were traditionally used as storage buildings for the fishing fleet, used to stow gear from natural materials - cotton nets, hemp ropes, canvas sails etc, which would rot in left in the open , especially when wet.

I've always want to draw these sheds so I spent a day in Hastings this summer doing just that. This is the second of those drawings - I drew this from one of the windows in Hastings Contemporary art gallery.

This replica drawing from my sketchbook can be purchased with or without the seam of the sketchbook visible. Please select your preference.

Your print of my drawing will be the same size as the page in my sketchbook. The larger ones are for £35 are 25cm x 21cm and the smaller ones for £30 are 23cm x 12cm or 17cm x 14cm . It will be printed on archival high quality Hahnemühle Fine Art Paper.
